When you install a Zorem plugin, we show a one-time consent notice with two independent opt-in choices: usage tracking to help us improve our products, and our marketing newsletter for product updates and announcements. Both are optional. Neither is required to use the plugin. This page explains exactly what each choice means and what data is involved.
The Two Opt-In Choices
1. Usage Tracking
If you opt in, we collect anonymous technical information about your WordPress environment (detailed below). This data helps us understand how our plugins are used in the real world, identify bugs, prioritize features, and maintain compatibility across the environments our customers run.
Usage tracking data is collected on activation and then sent to our servers every 24 hours while the plugin is active. You can disable this at any time in the plugin settings — data collection stops immediately when disabled.
2. Marketing Newsletter
If you opt in, we add your WordPress admin email address to our newsletter list. You will receive occasional emails about new plugin features, product updates, tips for WooCommerce merchants, and Zorem promotions.
You can unsubscribe at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email we send. We will never share or sell your email address to third parties.
What Data Do We Collect?
Usage tracking collects technical environment data only. We do not collect any personally identifiable information (PII) from you or your store’s customers — no customer names, emails, addresses, or payment details.
The following data is collected when usage tracking is enabled:
- WordPress admin name and email address
- Site URL
- WordPress locale (country and language)
- WordPress version
- PHP version
- MySQL version
- HTTP server type
- Active theme name and version
- List of installed plugins and their versions
- Zorem plugin(s) active state, version, and high-level settings
The admin email address is the only personal data collected. It is used solely to contact you about security updates, critical product notices, or (if you opted in) our marketing newsletter. It is never shared with third parties.
How Is the Data Used?
Usage tracking data is used exclusively to improve Zorem products. Specifically, we use it to:
- Identify bugs and compatibility issues across different WordPress, PHP, and WooCommerce versions
- Understand which environments we need to continue supporting
- Prioritize features based on how customers actually use each plugin
- Improve documentation and onboarding based on real configuration patterns
- Make data-driven product decisions
We do not use usage tracking data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to product improvement.
How Is the Data Transmitted and Stored?
Data is transmitted securely to our servers using industry-standard encryption (HTTPS/TLS). It is stored in a secure, access-controlled database accessible only by authorized Zorem personnel. We do not sell, rent, or share this data with third-party services.
Can I Change My Mind?
Yes — both opt-ins can be changed at any time after installation:
- Usage tracking: Enable or disable in the plugin settings at any time. When disabled, data collection stops immediately.
- Marketing newsletter: Unsubscribe via the link in any email, or contact us and we will remove you from our list.
Opting out of usage tracking does not affect plugin functionality. Support remains available to all active license holders regardless of tracking preference.
Questions?
