What’s New at Zorem – July 2026 Product Updates

July was a heads-down execution month. Zorem Returns 1.7 added guest warranty submissions and admin-initiated returns, Local Pickup PRO 2.0 and 2.1 brought full WooCommerce Checkout Block compatibility and a scan-to-mark-pickup QR flow, and SMS for WooCommerce 2.5 got the full Zorem UI (ZUI) redesign. Every plugin has been tested against WooCommerce 10.9.4 and WordPress 7.0.2.

What’s New at Zorem – July 2026 Product Updates
★ Biggest release of the month

Zorem Returns 1.7 (with 1.6.5 & 1.6.6)

Released July 2, July 6 & July 27, 2026

Three releases across the month, capped by Zorem Returns 1.7 — the version that opens warranty claims to guest customers, adds admin-initiated returns from the order edit page, and introduces a smart “Keep the Item + Discount Coupon” resolution option. If you handle warranty or run high-volume returns, this is the version to upgrade to.

  • Guest warranty submissions via shortcode — customers can now file warranty claims without logging in or having an account, using a dedicated shortcode you can drop on any page.
  • Admin-initiated return requests from order edit page — start a return on behalf of a customer directly from the order screen, useful for phone or email support cases.
  • “Keep the Item + Discount Coupon” return resolution — a new option for cases where shipping the item back costs more than the item itself. Issue a coupon and let the customer keep the product.
  • Return Portal translation fix — the “Find My Order” AJAX stall is resolved, and the portal heading plus all error messages are now translated across all 21 supported languages.
  • Xero sync fix for exchange orders — the “→” character in exchange child order numbers was being rejected by Xero as an invalid InvoiceNumber character. Now handled correctly.
  • Cross-Product Exchange improvements — better attribute pickers, correct price calculation using the right order item, and chosen-value persistence when navigating between screens.
  • Return Portal frontend asset fix — resolved a bug where assets weren’t enqueued on the [return-center] shortcode page.
  • “Start a Return” button restoration on the View Order page when Cross-Product Exchange is disabled.
  • Broken License tab design fix when the license is not activated.
  • Hardened admin script dependencies so admin.js can’t silently fail to load.
  • Upgraded Settings page design to match the wider Zorem UI direction.

Tested with WooCommerce 10.9.4 and WordPress 7.0.2.

✨ Major feature additions

Zorem Local Pickup PRO 2.0 & 2.1

Released July 6 & July 27, 2026

Two big releases: 2.0 introduced full WooCommerce Checkout Block support (a long-requested compatibility for stores on the block-based checkout), and 2.1 added the scan-QR-to-mark-pickup flow that removes the need for staff to log into the website at all.

  • WooCommerce Checkout Block compatibility — Local Pickup PRO now works natively on the block-based checkout, alongside the classic checkout.
  • Scan QR code to auto-mark Picked Up — staff can scan the pickup QR code and the order is marked as Picked Up automatically, no website login required. Perfect for counter, curbside, or kitchen staff.
  • Show location details before selection — customers can see opening hours, terms, and pickup notes at cart and checkout before choosing a location.
  • Show only nearest 1-2 pickup locations — a new option to hide the rest, useful for stores with dozens of locations that don’t want to overwhelm the customer.
  • Disable QR code in pickup confirmation emails — a new toggle for stores that prefer not to include QR codes in email confirmations.
  • Closed days disabled in checkout block date picker, plus special pickup instructions now display correctly.
  • Date fields now follow WordPress date format setting across the admin holidays picker, Time Slots Scheduler, and checkout picker mapping.
  • ALP Fulfillment Dashboard fixes — resolved the “Invalid JSON” error, missing save toasts, and drag-drop save error.
  • French translation fix — corrected an incorrect text domain in the .PO/.MO filenames that was preventing translation from loading.
  • “Force Local Pickup” per-product setting fix — the setting now saves correctly when configured on individual products.
  • Upgraded Settings page design matching the Zorem UI system.

Tested with WooCommerce 10.9.4 and WordPress 7.0.2.

⚠ ZUI redesign & Twilio fixes

SMS for WooCommerce 2.4.4, 2.5 & 2.5.1

Released July 3, July 8 & July 16, 2026

Three releases that started with a critical Twilio checkout fix, brought the plugin onto the new Zorem UI design system, and cleaned up the merge tag list so customers never receive raw {placeholder} text again.

  • Fixed unresponsive Place Order button on classic checkout when Twilio phone validation was enabled. Migrated Twilio Lookups API from the retired v1 to v2, switched client-side validation to fail-open, and made transient Twilio failures (network, 5xx, auth) fall through instead of hard-blocking checkout.
  • Cleaned up merge tag list — tags that had no matching replacement ({customer_first_name}, {order_number}, {order_total}) were being sent to customers as raw text. The list now shows only working tags: {billing_first}, {billing_last}, {billing_name}, {order_id}, and {order_amount}.
  • Tracking tags now conditionally listed{tracking_link}, {tracking_number}, and related tags only appear when Advanced Shipment Tracking, WooCommerce Shipment Tracking, or TrackShip is active.
  • Full Zorem UI (ZUI) redesign — every SMS for WooCommerce screen (SMS Gateway settings, URL Shortener, Checkout Options, SMS Logs Settings, SMS Notifications, SMS Logs, License tab) now shares the unified Zorem visual language: consistent typography, cards, sidebar navigation, snackbar toasts, confirmation modals, and inline tooltips.

Tested with WooCommerce 10.9.4 and WordPress 7.0.1.

AST PRO 5.0.2

Released July 3, 2026

Reliability improvements and quality-of-life fixes for stores handling automated CSV imports, Dripshipper fulfillment, or multi-tracking-number workflows.

  • Latest-tracking-only option for shipped emails — when multiple tracking numbers are added to the same order item via the Shipment Tracking API, you can now choose to include only the latest tracking number in the shipped email.
  • FTP/SFTP connection diagnostic — when testing automated CSV import, the diagnostic now pinpoints the exact failed step (connection, auth, directory access, file read) with a clear reason and suggested fix.
  • Fixed duplicate Completed Order emails in the Dripshipper fulfillment flow when tracking details and order completion are submitted in the same WooCommerce REST API request.
  • Resolved duplicate order details in Completed Order emails — order details and tracking information are now displayed only once.

Customer Info 1.3.0

Released July 14, 2026

Customer Info picks up OTP-based email verification for My Account registrations, with a full admin customizer to match your brand.

  • OTP-based email verification for WooCommerce My-Account registrations — verify new customers with a one-time code before their account is activated.
  • Admin customizer with live preview — customise the OTP email template and OTP popup from Settings › Email Verification with controls for logo, width, padding, colors, alignment, and content.
  • Rate-limited public REST endpoints — the send-otp and verify-otp endpoints use HMAC-hashed OTP storage and single-use verification tokens for strong security.

How to update your plugins

All updates are available now from your WordPress dashboard. As always, we recommend:

  1. Take a backup of your store before updating.
  2. Test on staging first if you have one, especially for Zorem Returns 1.7 and Local Pickup PRO 2.0/2.1 which include Checkout Block changes.
  3. Update one plugin at a time so any issues are easy to isolate.

Run into anything unexpected? Our support team is here to help.

What’s coming next

August will continue the Zorem UI (ZUI) rollout across the remaining plugins in the catalog, plus a few workflow features connecting Returns, SMS, and CEV more tightly. AST PRO also has a couple of long-requested carrier integrations landing next month.

Thanks for trusting Zorem with your WooCommerce store. Every release is shaped by your feedback — keep it coming.
